SWEET LADIES OF THE RITZ

Feature Screenplay by Hope Perello

Story by Doraine Poretz and Pauli T. Smith

In the midst of dramatic cultural shifts of the 1950's and 60's in America, Sylvia Plath and Anne Sexton dare to “have it all” – careers, families, and rooms to call one’s own.

These two brilliant young poets form a mighty friendship, giving them the courage to tell the raw truth of women's messy, complex, lives. Together, they fight the uphill battle against sexism and traditional norms, but their fiercest foes are the monsters in their minds. In spite of the of the plague of mental illness,  Sylvia and Anne make indelible marks on the field of poetry and culture, winning Pulitzers and honorary degrees,  and inspiring generations of women to come.
